Cascade: Day One

11 07 2008

I made my 8:39:30 start time just fine. I even had a pretty good warmup. The course was pretty much as expected. I saw the Slipstream boys coming back from their pre-ride as I putt-putted up Skyliner. My time was 39:15 by my PT. I haven’t seen the results, but I think I’m 4 to 5 minutes back on GC. Here’s the power file and here’s a plot:

The Cat 4 crit started at 2:50pm. It was 25 minutes. It was hard. I finished at the back of the group, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t lose any time, so I think that’s success. I started at the back even though I thought I was lined up alright. I dodged a crash out of the second-to-last corner. I couldn’t quite find the legs to get forward. That’s how the TT was too.

Here’s the file, and the plot:

I’m feel the effects of something. I’d guess the elevation, heat, or my recent 10-day vacation from riding. Probably some of all of that. I averaged 254w (norm 260w) for the TT, and I was hoping I’d get 310w (based off that 60min of 322w). Nope.

I watched the NRC crit earlier… holy crap.

A cool 71 miles tomorrow with some fast Cat 3’s, including a brief and likely painless jaunt up to Mt. Bachelor. No big deal, right.
