I put two shiny new batteries (N-type 1.5V LR1) in my PowerTap hub. Now it’ll put out extra power and I’ll be extra fast, right? Cool.
Cole, Brian, Wes and I drove down. Wes sat around because he is Cat2-fast and thus races later while we sat around but kind got ready and whatever.
Cole launched The Move from the gun whistle and stayed away for a bit. I countered, and everyone cowered in fear.
Okay, not really, but I did get a respectable jump and did 400W for two and a half minutes before they pulled me back. Postmortem analysis shows the average heartrate for that effort was 195bpm… hmm. That’s a little high.
Cole attacked. I attacked. Then I was tired. I think Cole was tired too. Two guys attacked, and I watched. A bit later, three guys attacked, including Bennett, uh oh. People were chasing, all was well, I thought. Two more went. I was still tired. Andrew Bennett likely laid the hammer down and the gap was solid. I was still content to watch, trying not to throw up and also trying not to get dropped after my work setting up the winning break without a Pacific Power rider in it. Brilliant.
Cole and I do some work to bring it back. A few people help out. A lot of people don’t. I attack several times to keep the pace high. I come close to swearing at a couple people, but keep it to pathetic, squeaky sounds of dismay and wiggling elbows. I attack with 2 to go, figuring everyone is as tired as I am and that I’ll get the gap/whatever. They catch me pretty easily and I am finally totally and completely cooked. I roll across for 20th, I think.
Power
I went over 700W 23 times.
